Oral Pathology

Often patients are referred by their general dentist, family physician or they may notice something unusual and make an appointment on their own.  The patient then comes to the office where an initial exam is done. Often times there may be no treatment, but only observation. However, a biopsy may be necessary and is usually done in the office with local anesthesia. We send our specimens to an oral pathologist at the Medical University of South Carolina. Once a definitive diagnosis is made a treatment plan will then be discussed with the patient.
